In 1953, on the Turtle Mountain Reservation, Thomas Wazhashk, a night watchman and Chippewa Council member, confronts a U.S. government “termination” bill that threatens Native American rights, land, and identity. As Thomas fights to safeguard his people’s future, Patrice Paranteau battles her own challenges. A hardworking plant worker supporting her family, she’s determined to find her missing sister Vera in Minneapolis. But the search pulls her into a dark world of exploitation and violence, risking her safety and her dreams.
Amidst these struggles, their lives intertwine with the reservation community: a lovesick teacher, a rising boxer, and resilient families striving to endure. Can Thomas and Patrice overcome their trials, or will their heritage and hope be lost to history?
