In the city of Port Angeles, where rainforest shadows press against crumbling streets, Yejide stands on the edge of inheritance. Her dying mother leaves her a legacy older than memory: the St. Bernard women alone can guide the restless dead into the afterlife. But Yejide, scarred by years of neglect, wants freedom—not duty.
Darwin arrives from the countryside, newly shorn of his dreadlocks, burdened with a faith that forbids him from touching death. Yet the only job he can find is as a gravedigger in Fidelis Cemetery, where the dead do not rest easily.
