Thirteen-year-olds Will Halloway and Jim Nightshade are best friends searching for adventure in their small town. When Cooger & Dark’s Pandemonium Shadow Show rolls in just before Halloween, it seems like excitement has finally arrived.
But this carnival isn’t about fun rides and cotton candy. It grants twisted versions of people’s desires, trapping them in nightmarish fates they can’t escape. Will’s aging father feels its pull, Jim is tempted by its promises, and Mr. Dark, the sinister ringmaster, stalks them all with his tattooed army of souls.
If they can’t resist temptation and stand together, they risk losing more than childhood innocence—they risk their very souls.
