An earthquake rattles Denver—impossible, since the nearest fault line is hundreds of miles away. Dr. Dayna Raines and a USGS emergency team are dispatched to investigate, only to uncover the epicenter at a decommissioned Army injection well once used to bury chemical weapons. The seismic instability is real, and unless they collapse the cavern system, a catastrophic quake will follow.
But that’s not the worst of it. The Army buried more than chemicals. Two miles underground lies a biological organism so dangerous it was sealed away forever. Now the earth has cracked open, and the thing meant never to see daylight is stirring.
With the clock ticking, Raines and her team must face a terror that mutates, spreads, and refuses to stay buried.
