Winter is ending. The enemy is gathering. And the only person who can control the dragons is a woman forbidden to lead them.
For ages, the dragoneers of Aerona have defended the kingdom from the backs of dragons. When disaster strikes and Trysten’s father can no longer fulfill his duties, he follows tradition and chooses a man to replace him as dragoneer.
But the dragons have other plans.
As Spring draws near, Trysten must either obey her father to honor a tradition she doesn’t agree with, or defy him to save the village she loves and the kingdom she calls home.
