In 1790, as the French Revolution tears Paris apart, a bejeweled chess set once owned by Charlemagne is unearthed from a Pyrenees abbey. Legend says that when the pieces are reunited, the set will unleash a power capable of toppling civilizations. To protect it, two young nuns scatter the pieces across the globe, launching a perilous quest from France to Russia, Egypt, and the Sahara.
Two centuries later, computer expert Catherine Velis travels to Algeria for work and finds herself caught in the same deadly “Game.” The hunt for the chess set’s pieces is still underway, and the players are as ruthless as ever.
From Parisian streets to desert sands, The Eight is a gripping blend of history, mystery, and high-stakes adventure.
